Sorry to inform everybody, but a professional in the industry has strongly advised against us putting any portions of our manuscript online, so I'm afraid there will be no further pages available. We will keep everyone updated.

About us

A little information about Suzie and Bruce…

After high school, Suzie Lockhart attended The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, but the gnawing urge to write always remained with her. Three years ago, she began working on an idea for a YA novel. When her son, Bruce, realized he had the same passion for storytelling, they teamed up. Together, they finished that book, which is presently being considered for publication.

Their joint efforts have produced short stories such as Through the Looking Glass in Dionne’s Anthology, as well as the upcoming Of Shadow & Substance in Sirens Call Mental Ward: Stories from the Asylum.

Bruce has a flash fiction story published in Dark Eclipse, issue #7, entitled Afflicted.

Suzie’s first publication, Instinct, was in DMD’s Frightmares, A Fistful of Flash Fiction Horror. Another piece, Be Careful What You Wish For, will appear in January’s Dark Moon Digest. She also has a short story in the October issue of Sirens Call eZine, entitled The Last Temptation.

Suzie is delighted to be one of the female horror writer’s selected to appear in the upcoming Mistresses of the Macabre. Look for Playing with Fire in this incredible anthology, edited by author Lori Michelle.

Recently, Bruce and Suzie had another short story, Arctic Weaver, picked up for Sirens Call December eZine.

Both can be reached via e-mail at aspiringauthors@gmail.com.

Find them on FB: Suzie Wargo Lockhart or Bruce Lockhart.

Suzie is also on Twitter at suzieartist.

Author Questions (Fun game for any authors)

1)    What is the working title of your next book? Still focusing on getting The Lynx: Grey Matter published, and writing at least 3 follow up books. We have an editor working w/ us, and one Literary Agent currently holds the manuscript. We plan to start serious work on book 2 after Christmas. (We’ve been busy with several short story projects)

2)    Where did the idea come from for the book? On Halloween 3 years ago, we were watching Night of the Living Dead. The next morning, I was kidding around w/ my husband about doing a YA zombie book. Spoiler*** The book is not about zombies, but rather bizarre changes in students at a small town HS.

3)    What genre does your book fall under? YA. We combine fantasy, action, horror, romance, and a few we probably forgot to mention.

4)    What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition? Will Smith as Howard, Terry O’Quinn or Woody Harrelson as Allistor Lynx. Unknowns for the teenagers, who are the main characters oops.

5)    What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? Students at Pleasant Valley HS are the test subjects in a sinister experiment to alter the mind.

6)   Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? Agency. (That’s the plan!)

7)    How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript? 18 months.

8)    What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? Michael Grant’s Gone Series.

9)    Who or what inspired you to write this book? JK Rowling.

10) What else about the book might pique the reader's interest? We tell the story from multiple perspectives, as well as raise questions about opening doors to the human mind that nature has left closed.
